Sorry I missed the gathering last night. Can’t believe this happened – I was on my way when I noticed a foul smell coming from my car. When I looked in the backseat, I found a forgotten bag of groceries, including raw fish and cheese, ripening for days. The odor was horrific, almost apocalyptic, like a scrambled symphony playing in the nostrils. I tried cleaning it up but to no avail. The smell was so pungent, it seemed to have seeped into my skin. Even after several showers and dousing myself in every fragrance I had, I still reeked like Poseidon’s dumpster. I’ve been going through various deep cleaning procedures to fumigate my vehicle and myself, just to make sure I don’t smell like a fishing trawler. I feared gracing your event with my presence might spoilt the ambience. Hence, I restrained myself for everyone’s betterment. I hope the evening was wonderful regardless and that you can forgive my onsite absence due to this unfortunate debacle.
